I don’t derive much pleasure talking about stories that lead the tabloids. Although I don’t generally have time to watch either, I’m much more 7.30 Report than Today Tonight. Yet I did, by chance, watch A Current Affair last night, and Corey Delaney’s interview on Monday’s programme was incredible. His obvious juvenility versus Leila McKinnon’s moral preaching made for brilliant car-crash television. I admit it — I loved every minute of it. That was why I decided, after finding the clip of it on YouTube, to post the segment to this site. No real thought — a couple of glib lines, a bit of code pasted in and it was done. Yet here we are, and it’s become the most popular entry to feature on this site. Over 250 people have viewed the article so far, with this site featuring in a range of Google searches for Corey, Narre Warren, party and MySpace. It reached the front page on Australian social news site, Kwoff, where its popularity is swelling.
Last night, I called Corey the village idiot of Narre Warren. To use the vernacular — and let’s call a spade a spade here — he’s a tool. Why anyone in their right mind would post an invite to a party on an open website like MySpace is entirely beyond me. That so many would in turn show up firmly solidifies that site’s reputation as home of the bogans. At least Facebook is a bit more private.
A quick whip around the blogosphere this lunchtime shows a pretty high level of contempt for Corey among the broader community, and a lot of blame being directed at his parents. They raised him — this must be a reflection on them as well. Victoria Police are talking about making Corey pay the estimated $20,000 for the cost of the resulting police operation to bring the MySpace-500 under control. Sadly, if this does happen, it is almost certainly a cost his parents will bear — and judging by his attitude in media interviews, that’s hardly going to have a dramatic impact on him. He’s utterly humiliated his family and it doesn’t seem to faze him at all.
That the community outrage hasn’t had an effect on Corey has only outraged the community even further. Corey is seen as indicative of a generation that doesn’t know the meaning of respect, that has no social conscience, no understanding of what is right or wrong — or if not that, at least a lack of concern about such a trivial distinction. This perhaps goes too far — similar charges have been made young people for centuries. Adults expect children just to be as mature as they are, perhaps forgetting what they got up to when they were young or, where they still remember, desperately trying to stop younger generations from repeating the mistakes of their own misspent youth. In large part, such antics are simply an attribute of being young — as it has been since the dawn of time.
That is not to say all young people demonstrate the sort of attitude to life that Corey does. I’ve never attended a party as out-of-control as Corey’s — but then I don’t live in Narre Warren. The reality is that throughout our lives, we are also influenced by our peers. Corey’s interview on A Current Affair is a perfect demonstration of that. To me, he came across as a moron. His attitude may have offended the sense of common decency held by many. But then we’re not Corey’s constituency. At the age of 16, he cares about how he looks, and impressing his friends. That’s what he no doubt did last night. The blank refusal to consider taking off his sunglasses (not that anyone’s asked U2’s Bono to ever take his off, it must be said) was about preserving his image. I have little doubt that sales of his Dame Edna inspired frames will surge today, as kids seek to capture the same look as the legendary Corey. We might have laughed last night, but he’s right — those sunglasses are famous. That fame might well be a flash in the pan, but when it comes to trends and fads, that’s more than enough.

I was at this party and though Correy insults the people of Narre Warren, with his slack type attitude. What he is saying, is correct. There was absolutely no trouble until police showed up from what I’m guessing was a noise complaint. What people (mainly the media) don’t report, is that there was a SECOND party within two streets of Correy’s. Everyone in Narre Warren and the surrounding areas, know one another pretty well. Especially those of us with MySpace and the likes. So when this ‘invite-only’ party got boring, a good chunk of its people left and turned up at Correy’s. He can’t be blamed for this entirely.
This whole sorry saga is a train wreck from start to finish. So many of the comments I’ve seen are so ridiculous I don’t know where to start. I think my favourite part is hearing people bleat the virtues of personal responsibility while simulatenously totally ignoring the fact that the police from all accounts totally failed to detain, much less charge those responsible for the property damage in the first place!
And what exactly was the point of sending a helicopter to the party? What was the plan there, for it to shine its lights on the revellers below and hope for the best? Talk about a waste of police resources. Then we have the idea that the kid or his parents are going to foot the $20,000 bill is absolutely laughable; as a minor he cannot legally hold a duty of care over other minors who chose to attend his party and behave in such a way of their own volition. Not to mention, thanks to the lousy police work, it’s next to impossible to determine whether or not those responsible were even actually invited to the party in the first place! And even if they were, how was this kid meant to control a 500 strong crowd when even the police apparently couldn’t? The very same police who reportedly told Corey to stay inside as this was all happening!
This is just another fine example of the intellectual dishonesty present in the Australian media and their exploitation of the average person’s seemingly unquenchable thirst to spew ignorant bile on any and all topics so long as it allows them to achieve some sort of moral highground or feeling of superiority.
What a joke.
This could have happened to anyone.
Really, who hasn’t invited peopel over when their parents went out?
I think it’s just a case of bad luck!
He didn’t want to take his sunnies off because he was still trashed and he didn’t want his parents to see the size of his pupils.
He’s a tool. Seriously, what kind of an idiot advertises their home address on myspace and issues an open invitation for all narre bogans to show up and get wasted. I hope his parents kick his arse to the curb & call him on the $20k worth of damages.
He’s pretty much an example of about half the teenage population. We all had unaproved, underage parties, a lot of the time there was a great deal of damage and noise created. The only difference is the police’s inability to do their job and the boy’s stupidity by creating an entirely open house party, as every young person knows, at the very least when a parties completely open house, there will be fights, there will be excess drinking, drugs, and therfore…..police.
Rhiannon….
I love that saying (nothing was wrong until the police showed up) The police turning up because the residence were distraught and afraid. Furthermore, it’s an offence to have underage drinking in anypart of Australia, let alone 500 kids in one street. I myself am 25 year old social person, which includes event/club photography, with the whose who, moving to the city to live a very social and party lifestyle. But a line needs to be drawn somewhere, and someone has to be accountable… Corey is the epitome of the standard of youths today. With all the do gooders (Baby Boomers) in society prompting action against smacking your child, and throwing down some discipline… look how it’s turned out what ever happened to manners, and respect. What the hell do they teach at school anymore. Most people round my age have absolutely no tolerance for that. little shits like him think it’s all too cool. He reminds me of most australian male sports celebrities… with their egos
before their manners. it’s no surprise when international tennis stars, and people like actors ;Will Smith’ are idolised in this country, it’s because they are so well mannered.
So ‘Rhiannon’ it’s not the fact there was a party - no one really cares, its the fact this idiot is so inconsiderate to those around. And that’s a joke because of all the bullsh*tred tape, we know theres nothing society can do, we just have to accept that as a teenager on moden day they can get away with anything… and because the parents can’t smack him, im sure he will just enjoy the ride. If theres one thing I hate in society, its arrogance, and corey has it to the nines.
Good writeup.
@Rhiannon, Read the news reports. The neighbours were terrified. If you’ve got 500 drunk partygoers running riot through people’s backyards, a helicopter is the best way to find them. Says volumes to me that Corey and his mates can carry on like such prats and people like Rhiannon try and blame the police and neighbours instead:
“Just hundreds of kids, big groups, large groups coming up and down the street and they were basically throwing bottles, smashing things, picking bricks up and smacking them against the lamp-posts,” said another. “Linda Guillou, who has lived in Galloway Drive for seven years, said she feared for her two children after teens spilled on to her front lawn. She said her husband armed himself with a cricket bat. Mrs Guillou called police after a bird bath in her garden was kicked over. “The second time we notified the police we were starting to get a little bit frightened for the children because things were getting broken.” Rose Layton, a grandmother who lives nearby, was shocked by the rampage. “They were going to the toilet out the front, throwing bottles and jumping on cars,” Mrs Layton said. “There was such a mass of them. We were terrified.”"
whats his myspace address
Rhiannon you have totally lost any credibility as far as any moral high ground goes. I notice that your photo in your profile lists you as 17 years old, yet wait… is that a Smirnoff can…with a straw.. that you appear to be consuming.
You and your little Corey groupie mates need to smarten up and learn responsibility and respect.
It’s obvious you don’t know what you are talking about as you use the phrase ‘from what I’m guessing’ to give “your” opinion as to why the police turned up.
As for you Hocus, it’s civil liberterian, cop bashing boneheads such as yourself who go out of their way to champion the criminal without any regard for the victims.
On one hand you describe the media as spewing bile etc and in the same breath using the same said bile to base your argument and even purport that information to be “Fact” eg: “fact that the police from all accounts totally failed to detain” etc etc.
I’m rating you as either a law student, junior lawyer for legal aid, one of those lefty socialist activists or all of the above, through your political undertone, anti-authority and verbose statements which only serve to satisfy your hate of law enforcement and show your blatant disregard for the victims. By the way the victims would be the families who had their property damaged and the Victorian tax payers who pay for the police vehicles.
By the way nice Page Mr Ford. Thank-you all for your time.
Oh for ‘Someguy’:Cut and paste either web address into your browser it will take you to Dumbasses’ Myspace page

Interesting to see both sides represented here. The suggestion that somehow the police are to blame is ridiculous and frankly insulting to the men and women who accept the job of protecting our community. Neighbours felt threatened, and the police were right to try and intervene.
But I also accept Rhiannon’s point. It’s been reported that there was a second party nearby, and that when that broke up, many additional people descended on Corey’s event. That’s unfortunately what happens with open house parties though. Corey held a party without appropriate adult supervision, and as organiser, he accepted the risk of that happening, and imposed it on his fellow neighbours. I don’t accept that he is without fault.
At the end of the day though, the community reaction has nothing to do with whether he’s to blame or not, it’s his entire attitude to the whole thing - but then, as I say, that’s what’s also giving him the notoriety, and the favourable reputation amongst many of his peers.
Man youse are all nuts! this bloke is a fucking legend! if i hadnt been drinking myself that night of the party i’d of driven down there to join the action too!! anyone got his myspace addy?
Are you serious? I am 31 years old. I wasted the best years of my life messed up on heroin and alcohol, clubbing and partying. Even though I was (regrettably) 10 times the wasteoid that this Delaney WANTS to be, I managed to not mess up my folks place, break the law (other than drug taking)or harass my neighbors. I didn’t beat one person up, didn’t assault any police or police property, and I managed to control the guests at EVERY party I ever had (and I even used to run rave parties for 300+ people).
My point is this - this Delaney is a KID. He is pathetic. He wants to be cool, and he wants to be infamous because he has an ill formed brain and a child like psychology. He thinks he knows what cool is, but he hasn’t worked out that it doesn’t include messing up other peoples shit. Mr and Mrs Delaney - I was a prick of a kid once too. There was nothing my parents could do about it. All you can do is try and appeal to his better side, and if he doesn’t want to do that - focus on something else. He may be your son but we can’t choose our relatives, nor what they do. He will learn as his so called “friends” one by one screw him over, help him with a new found drug addiction, steal his girlfriends and his money, and talk about him behind his back. Then he will find that he has no real friends because he is not a real person. Just a temporary winner in a very undesirable popularity contest. Then he will return home when he realises what he has at home. It might take 4 years.
Corey, you are not cool mate - not one bit. Go home and look after your parents, speak up against the behavior of the people outside your house that night (whether you invited them or not) and pull your head in and try and get a perspective on what it means to be 16.
Loser
It had to happen..

Nice glasses…
LOL!
I love all this hey, what a laugh. You’re a funny one Corey.
The ACA interview was great, LOL. I was laughing so hard when he said “get me to do it for you” and when asked about his glasses he goes “because they’re famous” LMFAO!!!!!!
I reckon he’s a hard roller, definately a funny bastard anyway. QFT love to all
i find it fucking funny to be honest
Leave the dude alone. He is very sexc, and has a lot of fun to come in the future!
Agree whole heartedly with Ben!!!!!

Corey - you simply are a loser to the T.
Good luck , you will definatly need it.
ps - those $12 Jay Jays sunnies are real famous!
You retard!
@Psinet. Insightful comment. There’s hope for everyone, thought doesn’t mean everyone uses it.
@Ben:
Nice job calling me a “bonehead” while obviosuly totally failing to read, let alone comprehend the comment I made. How is calling me a “civil liberterian[sic]” (it’s libertarian, you bonehead) even remotely accurate? At no point did I try to suggest that there should be no charges laid for the events of that night, but rather, those actually responsible for the damage should be charged rather than a third party (Corey) who had no reasonable means to contain the situation! Holding this opinion is not about extolling civil liberties but about plain common sense. If somebody got stabbed and died in his front yard, would you suggest he be charged as an accessory to murder? No, of course not, so the logic follows that he cannot be held personally responsible for the actions of those who may not have even been part of his peer group or invited attendees.
To label him a criminal is totally outlandish. What crimes has he committed? Name them for me please. “Inconveniencing your neighbours” is not a crime. At worst he could be charged with Disturbing the Peace, but since he complied with police orders to stay inside and shut the party down, it’s not going to happen.
As for me supposedly using baseless facts, the fact that nobody had been detained and charged came from a statement made by the police!
Your assumptions about me are incorrect and more importantly, irrelevant. I don’t have a problem with law enforcement officers; I have a problem with law enforcement officers who don’t do their jobs properly, as clearly seen here. I can’t fathom how you can claim I showed “disregard” for the victims since at no point did I criticise them or suggest it was a non-issue, in fact, I didn’t mention the victims at all! Therefore, there is no way you could have drawn a conclusion as to my disposition towards them.
You replied to me trying to sound all high and mighty but you ruined any credibility you may have had by making far too many baseless assumptions and demonstrating a completely inability to analyse a piece of text with any level of accuracy.
Thankyou for your time.
HaHaHa coreys madd!!
that would have been the awsumest party
eva!!!
if i eva think of having a huge party,
i will get u to man!!!
AWSUMNESS
and all u fags that think his in the wrong are sooo
stupid!its not like he was the one running around
smashing up cars!! he shouldnt be fined!!!
keep it up corey!!!!!
I really feel for Corey. That kid is up to his neck in shit that he has no hope of dealing with, and he’s starting to become dimly aware of it. The bravado is just to cover up the fear, ‘cos the kid knows that his old life could really be all over now.
lucky for him the tabloids will most likely forget him after a few months. I wonder if his parents will..
Lara learn how to spell and grow a brain!!!
Its a bit sad that the lad is copping the blame for the actions of others… It has been reported that he co-operated with police on all requests…
I will echo Hocus’ question… What crime has he committed?
To those who did willing distroy the neighbourhood… Lets hope the police actually do their job and lock you up instead!
Corey is a legend! Lay off him! Show your support at FreeCorey.com!
Big respect to you.
I cant wait to see his life ruined.
One word , RETARDED
Looks like he has a new website.. coreyspace.com
Despite his obvious moronic attitude, he can’t be held accountable
for the amount of people who actually did show up.
Myspace bulletins are only viewable by friends, meaning people who are on your
“myspace friends list” so, the intention wasn’t there to begin with.
Although, it’s obvious that he also didn’t make any attempt to prevent people
he didn’t know from attending.
I don’t think the website is to blame. In every community there is good and bad.
On every website there’s 10 idiots for one decent person. If it wasn’t myspace
it definately would be somewhere else and whoever created this article is only
adding fuel to this fire you find ridiculous.
Also, if he did make any attempt to control the party, with 500 guests, it would
have been pointless.
On a different note, if a 17 year old has a picture where they are holding an
alcoholic beverage, that does not make them irresponsible or idiotic. People of
the older generations forget the age they first had a drink. How quickly people
forget who our generation have as our role models as well (Not my role models
but others). There’s the likes of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Lyndsey Lohan and
Mischa Barton for the females. Ben cousins, Sunny bill, and numerous other
celebrities for the males. It’s the older generation that influences the
younger generation. How quick you all forget and become hypocritical. One man
stated that he was once addicted to heroin and on top of that an alcoholic,
you more then likely had people telling you that your actions were wrong but
it took for you to learn your lesson for you to change.
I think that what is happening here is a result of all the anti-smacking advocates. Ok so I dont smack my child, what discipline do I use?
Send them to their room? Time out? take their toys off them? How long does this work for?
This kid is just a symptom of a bigger problem here in Australia, it is sad that kids his age are allowed to play adult games. They are allowed to drink, party, develope relationships with the opposite sex.
Where is the innocence of youth? Is it all fuddy duddy and old fashioned? If it is then what are the answers for such a misguided kid like Corey? and his kind
What of the parents? were they really that blind to his antics? He obviously has a lot of fun in him, miguided and midirected, let me guess he was a perfect little angel up until this event? I think not
My younger brother was cut from a similar cloth, he was the consumate party animal, always the first to try something new, wore his pants too low, drank the most alcohol, partied the hardest… he died earlier this year as a passenger in the car of one of his mates
What happened to him has driven a spike through our hearts and we will never get over it, when I see the Corey Delaneys of which there are heaps, with their devil may care attitudes and their misguided loyalties it reminds me of how fragile life can be.
How many of those 500 teens will be with us this time next year? What will it take to bridge the gap between our youth and authority?
I think that the Toorak do gooders who lobby for rehabilitation and anti smacking should reimburse the community for their ivory tower wisdom.
Enough is enough
this dude wants to come to sydney and party
come to blacktown then and see wat a outa control party realli is
plus u wont last cos your soooo f**kin cool pfft loser !!!
Fuck what all you say, God I’d rather peel out my eyeballs than listen to all you dumb fucks out there or stare at the fecal mess of ugly bricks at Fed Square.
even the tasmanian paddleheaded freaks have it better than corey
@ Hennessy you make about as much sense as all the other 15 yr olds who have commented in this thread.
Our future is so bright
hahah… everytime I see this dude and his friends on TV or the net, I can’t help but crack up! Being much older, I can say I have seen people like that throughout my life… what a bunch of tossers! hahaha… put a shirt on boys, or grow a chest…hahah… my 7 year old nephew would put you to shame. Corey, seriously, don’t risk growning older and lookign back and thinking… God I was such a wanker…. hahaha….
About 15 years ago or so when I was about 15 or something, I was at an open house party, I doubt there was 100 people there, but for some reason the police found it necessary to: come in, smash all the windows in the house, smack people around a bit, block off the road and send in a helicopter. My point is that this party I was at, and Corey’s party are not unique examples of the Victorian Police coming in with excessive force. Correy is also not the first teenager to have an unsupervised party which went horribly wrong. Lack of consequential thinking is common among the young and stupid. However, is incapacity to take any responsibility for his actions is somewhat alarming. But also incredibly ego driven.
This is about all I care to comment on, except I shall now call ‘Bogans’ ‘Coreys’.
Corey is a stuped, up himself little boy that is most likely just try to make up for his size. i am his age, yet i am being blamed for being under the generation Y steriotype.
i belive that his actions are stuped but the midia has only made him want to drag it out. it wouldnt have been as big a deel if the midia had but out. i also belive his action are inxcusable.
Corey you got to rate him
